Firmino is preferred to be Benzema’s replacement in Real Madrid
Roberto Firmino is reportedly highly appreciated by Real Madrid, which is in need of an immediate Karim Benzema replacement. The French attacker stated that his time in Madrid is over, leaving his position empty in this mini-rebuild that the Merengues want to set in motion this summer. Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe are off the table and Harry Kane seems not to fit in the plans that the team has for next season. Keeping also in mind the amount of money that Real agreed to pay to Dortmund for Jude Bellingham (his contract will be due to 2029), they can’t spend a lot for an attacker, always calculating the pros and cons in the market.

All these clues lead to the conclusion that Firmino is a great choice for the Champions League 2022 winners. He played his last game with the liverbird this weekend, scoring once against Southampton. He also scored in front of the Kop against Aston Villa in a great farewell, leaving every Liverpool fan in tears. He scored 111 goals and assisted his teammates on occasions in 362 games, winning everything including a Champions League in 2019 and a Premier League in 2020.
Over the last couple of seasons, he lost his place in the starting 11, but he never stopped scoring, finding the net 13 times this season. He will arrive on a free transfer, a huge plus for a player of such caliber with much experience on the top level.
Real is of course not the sole team interested in his services. Firmino has already attracted interest from many major clubs, including Real’s huge rivals, Barcelona. The summer will be busy for the Brazilian who proves that his best seasons of his career are not behind him.
