For 131 years, Roland Garros has been the greatest show on clay. The second tennis Grand Slam tournament of the season, Roland Garros 2022, is upon us. The top tennis players from around the world will gather in Paris from May 22 to June 5, to crown the Grand Champion of the 126th French Open.
The greatest clay tennis tournament on both the ATP and WTA calendar will once again be played at the Stade Roland Garros, at the southern boundary of the Bois de Boulogne in Paris’ 16th arrondissement. Helpbet.com brings you all the odds and the best signup offers.
All of the biggest stars are expected to travel to Paris for this year’s French Open. Rafael Nadal returned to his favourite tournament after his triumph in Australia and after he got over his ribcage injury. His body is aching, as he has admitted himself, but won’t miss the chance of returning in front of a crowd that adores him, maybe for the last time.
Novak Djokovic will also be there, a few months after he was ejected from the Australian Open. “Nole” wants to retain his title and reach 21 Grand Slam championships, tying Nadal’s all-time record. He won the title in Rome, the biggest test ahead of Roland Garos, and he seems poised to win.
The Serbian is the number one favourite, according to the bookies, followed by “the new Nadal”, Carlos Alcaraz. The 19-year-old Spaniard recently became the youngest tennis player ever to beat both Nadal and Djokovic on clay and the youngest ever to win the highly acclaimed Madrid Open.
Novak Djokovic – 2.70
Carlos Alcaraz – 3.00
Rafa Nadal – 3.25
Stefanos Tsitsipas – 7.00
Alexander Zverev – 20.00
Casper Ruud – 25.00
Daniil Medvedev – 25.00
Dominic Thiem – 30.00
Jannik Sinner – 35.00
At the women’s table, there is a clear favourite and that is Iga Swiatek. She hopes to celebrate her 21st birthday with her second Grand Slam title, after her victory in Paris, in 2020. She is the WTA’s number 1, after Ashleigh Barty’s shocking retirement, and she’s on a mad winning streak after the Australian Open, since she’s lifted the trophies in Doha, Indian Wells, Miami, Stuttgart, and Rome.
Simona Halep is the second favorite, according to tennis betting sites. She was the Champion in France back in 2018 and she has always been good on clay. Paula Badosa and Barbora Krejcikova (last year’s Champion) follow on the odds list.
Iga Swiatek – 2.15
Simona Halep – 8.50
Paula Badosa – 12.00
Barbora Krejcikova – 15.00
Maria Sakkari – 18.00
Ons Jabeur – 18.00
Naomi Osaka – 18.00
Garbine Muguruza – 20.00
Apart from the glory, the trophy (or at least the replica, since the original never leaves the grounds), and the 2,000 points waiting for the two Champions, the monetary prizes are pretty important incentives. The winner in each of the two main tables will win 1.6 million dollars, with the finalist leaving France with 800,000 dollars.
