Jude Bellingham is turning 20 this summer but has already established himself as a Borussia Dortmund icon. He has made 125 appearances for the club as a teenager. And if we add the 44 appearances for Birmingham City as a 16-year-old, he already has a career many people twice his age would envy. Most major European clubs want to acquire him from the Germans and it seems like he has made his decision.
There seem to be three major candidates to bring Bellingham over from Germany: Liverpool, Manchester City, and Real Madrid. They all look ready to pay Dortmund over £100 million for the 19-year-old Englishman, but according to recent reports, the young midfielder has already chosen between the three.
In fact, according to a Sunday Times report, Bellingham was practically ready to sign for Liverpool before the game against Manchester City. The team’s latest failure, however, means that the Reds will probably miss the Champions League spots. Jurgen Klopp decided not to spend the huge amount of money needed for Bellingham in the summer. Liverpool chose to pull out of the race to sign the very talented British midfielder as they prioritise a significant squad rebuild instead and the budget needed is seriously limited. Jason Mount and Conor Gallagher are two names that the Reds can aim on. Following the recent news Liverpool’s odds fell at 4/1.
Does this mean that either Manchester City or Real Madrid have increased chances of landing Bellingham? Maybe. The both lead the race at this point. City’s odds are at 2/1, while Real’s are at 7/2. At the same time Manchester United is also joining the club of Bellingham suitors. The Red Devils are keep monitoring the Declan Rice situation, who is heavily linked with Arsenal.
