Arsenal have already moved for Kai Havertz

Mikel Arteta knows that next season will be tougher than the last one for Arsenal, as the team will compete in the Champions League for the first time since 2016/2017. The Gunners are looking to strengthen their squad in almost every position and now they are holding interest in Chelsea’s attacker, Kai Havertz, who may see the door of the Stamford Bridge this summer.

The German international is highly appreciated by the Spanish boss but his price tag may be an issue for Arsenal. It is understood that Chelsea is asking for more than £70 million for their precious asset, who has two years remaining on his contract. The player can see himself out in search of a new challenge, but it seems unlikely to ask for it while he is also not inclined to sign a new contract with the Blues.

Havertz arrived in London back in 2020 from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee of £90 million, playing a major role in Chelsea’s Champions League winning title 2 years ago. Despite that, he struggled a lot to find consistency, being a member of this horrible season for the club’s fans, when he scored nine goals in 47 appearances.

Arsenal saw in him the ability to play in almost every position in attack (as a false 9, as an attacking midfielder or a winger) helping in many aspects of Arteta’s football plan. He will be a great fit, so that’s the reason why the Gunners have started to contact both Chelsea and the player, in a chance to come closer to a possible deal through a thorough discussion.

The Northlonders may also count in Chelsea’s reported need to sell a bunch of players to bring balance after the past huge spending, under the new owner, Todd Boehly. The fans are expecting the arrival of Europa Conference League champion, Declan Rice, but they would not be negative about further additions.
